British pop star Lisa Maffia has absolutely laid into former Loose Women host Carol McGiffin, calling the radio broadcaster a ‘rude a**hole’.
The Brixton-born singer-songwriter, 45, shot to fame in the early 2000s as one of the leading members of So Solid Crew on their hit single 21 Seconds.
Meanwhile, Carol hosted Loose Women for thirteen years between 2000 and 2013, and appeared once again on the daytime talk show’s panel until 2023.
It’s not clear when the pair crossed paths, but their encounter definitely rubbed Lisa up completely the wrong way for her to remember it so negatively all these years later.
Speaking on the Livin La Vida Loca podcast, Lisa was asked who her worst celebrity encounter was – and she definitely did not mince her words.
‘Oh, I know this one. What is her frigging name? I can’t stand her. She’s rude you know? She was one of the original panelists on Loose Women, such an a**hole. Was her name Caroline?
‘She was old. Short bob, grey-blondish hair. She had a young boyfriend. So she had really short cropped sort of hair, and she went and started dating some, like, really young guy, and it kind of went to her head. I had to check her.’
When she was informed that she was indeed talking about Carol McGiffin, she Lisa remarked: ‘Yeah. That’s it, McGriffin or Griffin, little flippin’ gruff, billy goat gruff. Nah, she was rude. I will tell you as it is – don’t try me.’
In the clip shared on social media, Lisa didn’t explain why she had come to feel so negatively towards Carol, but it seems that whatever interaction they had in the past has definitely left its mark.
A spokesperson for Carol McGiffin told Metro.co.uk: ‘Carol doesn’t remember meeting Lisa Maffia and doesn’t know who she is.’
Lisa herself has appeared on Loose Women in the past, in an episode from May 2019, but Carol wasn’t on the panel when she stopped by.
Years before her apparent feud with Carol, Lisa shot to fame as part of So Solid Crew, whose hit song 21 Seconds was a shock number one single back in 2001.
The song sold over 100,000 copies in its first week on sale and beat competition from the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Atomic Kitten, Busta Rhymes, and Robbie Williams to claim the top spot.
After securing five more top 10 singles alongside acts such as Oxide & Neutrino and her follow So Solid Crew member Romeo, Lisa almost landed another number one with her solo song All Over.
She left pop music behind in the mid-2010s, Lisa turned to film production and TV work, appearing on reality shows and panel shows – such as Loose Women.
Since leaving Loose Women, Carol has been heavily critical of her former employer ITV, saying she was ‘forced’ to leave after a row with bosses.
She also put the boot into the show used to host, saying on GB News: ‘There are a lot of people who think the programme has gone very, very woke.’
Carol continued: ‘You just don’t have to keep forcing this stuff down peoples’ throats. It’s not just ITV, the BBC is probably worse actually.’
Metro.co.uk have contacted Carol McGiffin for clarification.
