Frame generation—previously a dirty word among gaming graphics enthusiasts—has blossomed into a serious card-selling feature. And while Nvidia’s DLSS (and related tech) is currently at the top of the heap, AMD isn’t letting them sit there uncontested.

A new technical preview of the Adrenalin driver package includes the first release of Fluid Motion Frames 2.

If frame generation is the buzzword in graphics, then AI is the buzzword everywhere else—and AMD claims that Fluid Motion Frames 2 includes “AI-optimized enhancements” for improved smoothness and latency.

If you want custom-fit improvements, you can also dig into the settings to more completely tweak the results.

Perhaps the most obvious user-facing improvement is compatibility with borderless fullscreen mode, a popular option for players who want to use advanced graphics but are willing to sacrifice a little bit of performance for quicker access to background PC programs.

At present, the option is available on the Radeon RX 7000 and 700M series. Fluid Motion Frames 2 is also compatible with Vulkan and OpenGL graphics modes, which is a very big deal for a small, specific subset of games and players.

You can download the preview for AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.20.01.02 (oof, what a mouthful) using this link. Users who don’t need to be on the bleeding edge should end up getting some (or all) of these features within a month or two with the general release. Fluid Motion Frames works on the Radeon RX 7000 and RX 6000 series.
