Eilish's new renditions for Amazon Music's 'Songline' series include tracks "Skinny," "L’Amour de Ma Vie," "Wildflower" and "Birds of a Feather"
Billie Eilish is giving fans a new spin on Hit Me Hard and Soft.
On Monday, July 29, the 22-year-old Grammy winner unleashed a handful of intimate renditions of tracks off her third studio album as part of Amazon Music’s new songwriting and performance series, Songline.
With assistance from Finneas and a crew of backing musicians providing vocals, strings and percussion, Eilish's latest live performance includes stripped-down versions of four album standouts: "Skinny,” “L’Amour de Ma Vie," "Wildflower" and "Birds of a Feather."
Eilish's performance of "Wildflower," featuring the rest of the backing musicians as Finneas took on acoustic guitar, is now available for fans to check out separately on Eilish's official YouTube channel.

Amazon Music's new Songline series, with Eilish's episode now viewable in full on the platform exclusively, features more than just fresh arrangements of the four songs, as Eilish and Finneas also go deep on how each track was created.
During the episode, Eilish and Finneas detail "Skinny" as the "entry point" into her May album, dissect writing a chunk of “Wildflower" by a pool with her dog and explain how Eilish wanted to perform less busy versions of the four tracks to "further explain the songs."
"There's so many harmonies and different parts and that is really what I wanted to showcase," Eilish said at the end of her Songline episode. "The fun, sweet, emotional piece. Some of it gets drowned out a little bit and I just wanted to highlight the songs, because I love them and think their so special."
The musicians who joined Eilish and Finneas for the performance include bassist Solo Smith, drummer Andrew Marshall, string instrumentalists Molly Rogers, Michelle Shin and Leah Metzler, and vocalists Eloise Lamb, Jane Horner and Rozzi.

“Songline offers an opportunity for artist songwriters and their collaborators to showcase their songwriting process, detail their artistic journey, and reveal the stories behind songs typically hidden away in studios,” Tom Winkler, head of publisher, songwriter, and society relations at Amazon Music, said in a statement. “By placing songwriters and their craft at the forefront of culture, fans can learn how their favorite songs and records were made, driving deeper connection with their favorite artists.”
Eilish and Finneas have opened up about the process behind Hit Me Hard and Soft previously, like when they appeared on Hot Ones Versus earlier this month and broke down their "biggest argument" that took place during the album's creation. As Finneas explained, he "put my feet up on the desk a lot and Billie is right there."
"Finneas is always, well, not always, a lot of the time, he is a lot of times barefoot or a lot of the times in very filthy shoes. He’ll put them…this is the situation…I’m like right next to him. And my face is right there," Eilish said. “And we filmed so much of the making of the album that almost all of the footage is just his feet. The camera is right there and it’s just his feet!"
But Finneas added that their "longest, biggest argument" was actually during "a period of transition in maybe both of our lives where we were both just trying to be honest."
"To give you credit, I was very much like high and mighty about like, 'You're not being honest enough or authentic enough,'" he said. “And you were coming up with such beautiful melodies and cool cadences. Then, by the time we had cool lyrics, everything else was done. So I learned a lot from being too ego-centric.”
Eilish released Hit Me Hard and Soft on May 17 and the album has since debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Songline with Billie Eilish is now available exclusively on Amazon Music.
