Do the Republicans have a strategy to take on Kamala Harris? Why is the Vice-President being personally insulted?

The Republicans and Donald Trump are insulting Kamala Harris personally based on her race and gender. Many of the Republicans point out that this does little to enhance their political standing and may also not ensure the support of key members of the electorate.
