There’s never been a better time to pick up Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset, as some retailers knock £200 off the original price.

Sony’s second attempt at cracking the virtual reality market might be low on games, but the headset itself is still an impressive bit of kit.

The amount of games available on the platform will bump up significantly from next month though, as the headset will be compatible with VR titles on PC, like Half-Life: Alyx, through a PC adapter which launches on August 7.

While the adapter itself costs £49.99, the price of the PlayStation VR2 headset in the UK has been drastically reduced at certain retailers, to try and make the investment seem worthwhile in the run-up.

The best deal available is through Smyths, which has reduced the price by £200, from £529.99 to £329.99. It’s unclear how long the deal will last, but it likely won’t stick around for long as it’s the biggest discount the headset has received yet.

There are other cheap deals at other UK retailers, albeit not quite as drastic. Currys has reduced the headset to £349.00, while Amazon is selling a bundle with Horizon Call Of The Mountain for £389.99, down from £569.99.

At the time of writing, Argos has also reduced the price to £349.99, while GAME is selling it for a solid £350 (although that’s minus a delivery charge).

Along with Horizon, other exclusive games available on the PlayStation VR2 include Resident Evil Village, Gran Turismo 7, and Resident Evil 4 remake. In a baffling move, you can’t actually play original PlayStation VR titles through PlayStation VR2, so sadly Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is out of the question.

To make the PlayStation VR2 compatible with PC, you’ll need to buy both the aforementioned PC adapter and a separate DisplayPort 1.4 cable (usually available for around £10).

Just don’t expect a huge amount of exclusive games on the platform moving forward, as Sony has apparently made ‘deep cuts’ to its VR division.
