The Boston Red Sox have struck another deal.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Red Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for infield prospect Nick Yorke.
Priester, 23, has thrown 44.2 innings for Pittsburgh this season with a 5.04 ERA. The former first-round pick has worked as a starter and reliever for the Pirates, making 10 total appearances.
In triple-A this season, Priester had a 3.21 ERA over 33.2 innings.
Yorke, 22, is ranked as Boston’s No. 14 prospect per Baseball America. He started the year in double-A but earned a promotion to triple-A, where he is slashing .310/.408/.490 over 38 games.
He was the Red Sox’s first-round pick in 2020.
