Prepare yourselves for a golden moment of radio thanks to a man named Paul and his teenage son’s sex education class.
During a phone-in for Nick Ferrari’s show on LBC, the presenter was left struggling for words when a caller shared his concerns about how his 14-year-old’s PSHE teacher was explaining sex to him.
In a bizarre turn of events, it involves a banana… and Nutella.
A clip of the hysterical moment has since gone viral, amassing over 1.5million plays on X.
Social media users have declared it ‘the best 1.53 of radio’, unable to suppress their laughter as broadcaster Ferrari maintains a completely serious tone while having the X-rated conversation.
As for the ending, well, nothing could’ve prepared us for what Paul was going to say.
‘Is he getting sex classes?’, Ferrari, 65, begins as he quizzes caller Paul on what type of education his son is being offered.
‘Is it appropriate, what’s going on? What’s happened to your lad?’, he asked.
‘I think it’s appropriate that they teach you about sex,’ Paul replies.
‘They talk about homosexual sex and heterosexual sex, which I think is appropriate, but they depicted it with a banana and Nutella.’
‘They depicted a sex act… ok, bear in mind there could be 13 and 12-year-olds listening… they depicted a sex act with a banana and Nutella?’, Ferrari responded, stuttering in disbelief.
‘Yeah, so, leave that to your own imagination,’ Paul says.
‘Right… erm… ok… I can’t get it,’ Ferrari sighs, clearly confused, before asking: ‘What was your son’s reaction?’
‘Well, he’s autistic so he takes everything literally,’ Paul says. ‘When he came home, he asked what that was symbolising and I used my imagination and I told him what I thought it was. I didn’t think that was a very good way of showing them.’
Slowly catching on, Ferrari says: ‘Hang on, is this… I think I’m going with this one… this would, perhaps, be more of a homosexual act?’
‘Yeah, possibly,’ states Paul.
‘As a dad, how do you react to that?’, he’s asked.
‘For a start, I don’t think it makes the act look good, because what does the Nutella symbolise?’, the caller ponders.
‘Yeah, I agree with that. What was the impact on your teenage son?’, Ferrari probes, with the following answer guaranteed to elicit a chuckle.
‘He doesn’t have Nutella on his toast anymore in the morning,’ Paul says.
‘That’s probably quite right, I imagine. I wasn’t sure where the story was gonna end there,’ Ferrari concludes.
As a video of the moment resurfaced and began spreading (not a Nutella pun) across the internet, people declared it ‘epic trolling’ from the caller.
‘Not a great ad for Nutella’, laughed Dina_Shakti.
‘Nick frantically trying to work out if it was a wind up’, said Bob_G_M.
‘The best ending to a radio phone in. Ever’, declared andyroden.
Radio presenter turned counsellor Iain Lee also shared the clip, writing: ‘I can’t breathe’.
Comic Seann Walsh chimed in: ‘I reckon this is up there with the most I’ve laughed at something on the internet’.
Others stated that the punchline is ‘exquisite’ and ‘sensational’, praising caller Paul for a ‘fantastic’ delivery of his story.
