WWE has dropped its biggest hint to date that WrestleMania is finally on its way to London.

The wrestling giant’s annual extravaganza – which is heading to Las Vegas in 2025 for its held its 41th iteration – has never been held outside North America but Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has suggested it’s only a matter of time, and 2026 seems like a real possibility.

On Thursday, Sadiq met with WWE’s creative chief Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque and company president Nick Kham at London’s City Hall to open talks about bringing WrestleMania to the capital.

There have been rumours rumbling for a year since John Cena’s tease at Money The Bank, and the Mayor mentioned the possibility in his successful campaign for reelection.

He said after the meeting that was ‘delighted to have met’ with the WWE head honchos to discuss how they can ‘work to make London WrestleMania’s first international destination’.

‘London has great pedigree in hosting the biggest international sporting events from around the globe – and I’m determined to cement our city’s reputation as the undisputed sports capital of the world, as we work together for a better London for everyone,’ he continued.

‘It’s exciting to be working with the WWE team. The meeting was really productive, and talks will continue about how we could turn our ambition into a reality.’

Triple H pointed to WWE andLondon’s ‘long and successful history dating back many decades’, with the company bringing SummerSlam 1992 to Wembley Stadium in an all-time classic moment.

‘Meeting with Sadiq Khan to discuss what the future of this partnership could bring has been excellent,’ he said

‘This year alone WWE has taken record-breaking events around the world to Australia, France, Scotland, Saudi Arabia and Canada – the appetite from the fans is there, and the excitement from the Mayor and his team in London is palpable.’

Back in April, Sadiq had pledged ‘to bring together a taskforce to explore bringing even more sports from North America and around the world to London’, with WrestleMania as a key part of that.

‘Sadiq Khan and his team are working hard on positioning London as a sport and entertainment capital of Europe and it has been great to hear more on his vision for how WWE can support them on that journey,’ Nick added in his own statement.

‘WrestleMania has delivered more than $1.25 billion in economic impact for its host cities, with this year’s event in Philadelphia attracting over 145,000 fans from 64 countries.’

A final decision is yet to be made, but Nick has made it clear the company is also keen to bring a large scale show to London.

‘There is a lot that needs to be discussed further but we share the ambition of Mayor Khan in trying to bring a stand-out WWE Premium Live event to London,’ he said.

Fans will be hoping that means a WrestleMania – and it finally feels like a genuine possibility.
