Yakuza Live-Action Series Reveals Nishiki Casting Along With Comic-Con Teaser Trailer | SDCC 2024

At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Amazon has finally provided the first official teaser trailer for the upcoming Priem Video live-action series Like a Dragon: Yakuza.
During the panel, Amazon provided the first official teaser trailer for the live-action adaption of a beloved Sega IP. In the teaser trailer, fans got their first look at Kento Kaku, who was cast in the show to portray Nishiki, Kazuma Kiryu's childhood best friend, in the upcoming TV series. Additionally, Amazon surprised attendees with exclusive clips featuring the on-screen portrayal of Ryoma as Kazuma Kiryu and Kento as Nishikiyama Akira, though those clips were kept from the public.
A log line for the series also accompanied the YouTube description for the teaser trailer. As Amazon previously confirmed, the series is loosely based on the events depicted in the 2005 game, with the series focusing on Kazuma Kiryu and his three childhood friends in different periods of their lives. In 1995 and 2005, spanning across two time-periods, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, an original crime-suspense-action series, follows the life, childhood friends, and repercussions of the decisions of Kazuma Kiryu, a fearsome and peerless Yakuza warrior with a strong sense of justice, duty, and humanity.
Amazon also provided a new promotional image for Like a Dragon: Yakuza, which you can check out below.
The panel concluded with a special video message from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, who provided insightful information on creating the Like a Dragon game franchise.
In June, Amazon formally announced a live-action adaptation series inspired by the Like a Dragon video game series. The series' first season will consist of six episodes, three of which will premiere on October 24 on Prime Video, while the latter half of the season will be released on November 1. The series is directed by Masaharu Take, best known as the lead director for the Netflix original series The Naked Director.
